Earlier today we managed to drag ourselves away from Skylanders Lost Islands just long enough to write our glowing review. It's a fantastic game that will likely become something of an obsession for you, so we've compiled all of the tips and tricks you'll need to get the most out of the game.

How does the Element of the Day feature work?

Each day, a different Skylander Element will be selected, such as fire or water. By using Skylanders, growing crops, and taking part in adventures that match the Element of the Day, you'll receive a greater reward from your efforts. You can find out which Element you should focus on from the Kingdom Info panel.

How can I get more Skylanders?

You can get additional Skylanders in one of three ways. Firstly, you can earn enough gems so that you can buy them outright from within the game. Secondly, whenever you buy a Skylanders toy you'll be able to enter the Web Code that comes with it into the game. Finally, you can activate Bluetooth on your device and connect your Portal of Power to import creatures directly into the game.

How can I get more gems?

If you're only able to purchase new Skylanders using gems, you can head into the game's cash store to buy more gems for real money. Prices vary between region, so check on your device to see how much these will cost. Parents might want to turn off the in-app purchase options to stop spending getting out of control!

How can I get more gold in Skylanders Lost Islands?

By far and away the most profitable way of getting more gold is to make sure your Skylanders are out taking part in Adventures whenever possible. You'll need to create an Adventure Balloon for each Skylander you want to send out on an Adventure.

Completing goals from the quest log or clearing out randomly occurring camps and invasions will also give you a decent chunk of cash!

How does the Energy system work?

Every time you send a Skylander out on an Adventure, or clear out trouble from your land, it will cost you a certain amount of Energy. Make sure that you always have a decent number of crop fields available, that they're always planted with an Energy crop, and that you mix up the different crop-growing timers to keep a steady flow of Energy coming in.

If you wish, you can swap some of your gems for Energy, but gems are much harder to come by, so we don't recommend making a habit out of this exchange.

How do I level up in Skylanders Lost Islands?

You see those little castle icons that occasionally pop from your buildings? If you tap on these, you'll be rewarded with experience points which will slowly level you up. Make sure to check into the game often to tap away at these. Completing goals and clearing space on your island will also reward you with XP.

How does the Kingdom Info panel work?

If you tap the little Kingdom XP icon in the interface, you'll be taken through to the Kingdom Info panel. This shows you critical information like how many Mabu are in your kingdom, and how many are available for work.

If you need more Mabu, you must build more Mabu houses, and these creatures are essential for running your community buildings like banks and post offices.

How do I level up my Skylanders?

Awesomenauts wikia. To level up a Skylander, they need to earn Hero Points and you can view each Skylander's progress on their info bar. Hero Points can be earned from sending a Skylander on an Adventure for example.

How should I expand my island?

If you're struggling to work out how to make progress, do keep an eye on the Goals screen in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Not only will you be given some direction for what to work on next, you'll also be rewarded with cash bonuses for completing these objectives.

How do I connect my Portal of Power to the game?

First of all, make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone or iPad from the device Settings screen. Next, turn on the Portal of Power, hold down the sync button on the bottom of the unit, then tap Portal of Power when it appears as a Bluetooth option on your Apple device. Simple!
